Energy Zone report November 2022

The Energy Zone ran from 7 November to 16 December 2022 and was funded by UKRI, Cavendish Nuclear and bp. The activity featured 20 engineers working across a variety of fields. Download the Zone Report (pdf) ❯ Scientists 20 engineers created profiles in the Zone. See who took part ❯ The winner of the Zone, who was Paul James, won £500 to deliver further STEM engagement activities. Students 336 students from 11 schools logged into the Zone. Impressively, 87% of active students were from priority schools: 40% from underserved schools and 47% from widening participation schools. Live Chats 21 live Chats were requested and 16 live Chats took place. On average, 5 engineers attended each live Chat.

What is I’m an Engineer?

I’m an Engineer, Get me out of here is an online activity where school students get to meet and interact with engineers.

It’s a competition between engineers, where the students are the judges.

Students challenge the engineers over intense, fast-paced, online live Chats. Then they Ask the engineers all the questions they want to, and Vote for their favourite scientist to win a prize of £500 to communicate their work with the public.
