I’m an Engineer, Get me out of here is an outreach activity engaging school students with people working in STEM. Students can Ask questions, connect with scientists through live Chats, and Vote for their favourite engineer to win £500 to put towards further outreach.
By taking part, you can:
Help school students learn more about science, and who it’s for
Improve your communication skills
Gain experience of public engagement in an easy and enjoyable way
It all happens online. It’s flexible – take part from the office or home, at times that suit you.
Engage your classes with STEM through I’m an Engineer, Get me out of here. Connect your students with working engineers from a diverse range of backgrounds and specialisms.
During the activity, students:
Learn about up to 40 relevant engineers through their profiles
Connect with them in 30-minute, text-based live Chats
Deepen their understanding by sending follow-up questions
Vote for the engineer they think deserves the £500 prize
Review their learning through a facilitated discussion
By taking part, you can:
Give context to your teaching, helping students explore STEM outside of the classroom
Give all of your students an equal voice and boost their confidence to ask questions
Bring careers into the curriculum, showing students roles they may not have considered
Support students’ science capital, helping them to see STEM as something ‘for them’
